This was a good idea of Pauline's, to draw these two at this moment from the back so you can't see the expressions on the faces. I guess it's a little similar to when a dramatist puts an important scene off stage.

I love this book cover. Well, it's so much part of my childhood imagination. I'm sure it's the same for lots of folk.

Drawing lions from memory

I've been trying to draw lions from memory on the train. I was thinking of Pauline Baynes images of Narnia. I came up with some rather strange concoctions and it made me think how little I had to fall back on for the lion's face.
