Plans afoot for poet musician website

Patrick Dreux, my old friend, warm and intelligent poet and musician is going to be the first artist. He's just sent me some files, but my internet is so slow I hope it's not going to frustrate my dreams of doing a small poet-musician netlabel, modelled on Richard Sanderson's Linear Obsessional. However, I don't intend it to have such a furious output!

Making a video with Richard

Just been filming in my shed with Richard Sanderson, our first Foulkestone video. When you watch it (it's not posted yet), look out for The Foulke Stone, my little two-faced pot I made of Richard and myself. It's not there for long, don't miss it! The video is to the sea shanty Shallow Brown.

Another quick rehearsal squeezed in on a Sunday evening. With Matt's help we recorded two songs - 'Talisman Crew' and 'One Cold Morning in December'. Good work!

Scaledown - tales from the Orchestra Pit

Had a lovely gig last night at Scaledown at the King and Queen on Foley Street. Thank you Mark Braby for putting me on.

The lovely John from BlackDogHat came down and gave me some support as did my old chum Sarah Clarke. Sarah and I had sherry, toasting our recent happy days in Madrid.

Richard Sanderson, Foulkestone colleague played his melodeon with various effects alongside the bearded Mark Pilkington. It wasn't the Mark Pilkington from Manchester. I made a fool of myself asking him if he had come down from Manchester that day. He hadn't of course. But he had got a synthesizer he had built out of all kinds of assemblages, and it looked like a telephone exchange.

Had a lovely rehearsal tonight with Richard Sanderson. He played mini accordion and fuzz guitar and I played microkorg. We had a very nice session! Our first micro-outing as the avant-folk duo will be at Scaledown later in the month, on 25th Feb.

The Vacant Chair

My post punk minimalist duo with Richard Sanderson is coming along. An avant-folk outfit, we're going to do traditional and parlour song. I've just sent him chords and music for 'The Vacant Chair', the civil war, anti-war song. I'm going to play Microkorg and he will play electric guitar with fuzz pedal.

The only problem is that we can't decide on a name. I fancy Foulkestone, but Richard prefers either The Unwelcome Companions or The Charming Interior so far. Perhaps we'll end up with none of these names ... who knows?
