The last choir concert (not ever, but the one before the Baroque one yesterday)

Sarah also gave me some pictures from the last choir concert we did in Chiswick - I think this was of us singing our 'English Renaissance' repertoire - Vaughan-Williams, Britten et alia. Nice church, nice audience. The children's choir were excellent too. It's such fun watching Russell conduct them. Is it less fun when he directs us? Hmmm, it's tougher.

Lovely concert

That was a great concert at St James's Piccadilly by the Collegium Musicum of London. Loved it. The highlight was the Lotti! Matt recorded it on my Tascam and we listened to it coming home on the train, sounded great.

Tea at choir rehearsal

We always have tea during choir rehearsal. Sometimes we really need it. Mona usually makes it but today Liz did, as she has laryngitis and couldn't sing.

Lamb & Tyger CD

Oh dear, producing more of these. How horrid to spend the day doing this kind of thing. And I'm also having to reaudition for my choir, we all are, so I'm having to listen time and time again to the Bach B Minor Mass Gloria.

And I'm trying to do my college task for presevation for the archive qualification I'm doing distance learning at Dundee University.

All in all not the greatest day, but I do feel surprisingly cheery none the less.

Another lovely choir rehearsal

Although I had the flu and kept coughing therefore disrupting all the polyphony, it was another great evening with Russell and Monteverdi in the Holy Redeemer. The concert is on Saturday 9 October if you want to come. It will be great. There will be sackbuts.

Monteverdi Midi Files

Russell our lovely new choir master has sent us midi files of the Monteverdi vespers. He says they are a good learning discipline. They may be but I CAN'T listen to them. They are like some form of audio torture. I won't listen to them. I can't.

Monteverdi Vespers

First rehearsal tonight for the choir and the Autumn concert of the Monteverdi Vespers. Both rehearsals and concert are in the Holy Redeemer on Exmouth Market. That's a home from home for me, as it was the church associated with Blanaid's school, Clerkenwell Parochial. It's quite striking, very Italianate and baroque, I like singing in there.
