Nice one! My book is recommended in Piccadilly's Waterstones, with a card that quotes in full one of the poems in the book. Apparently the poetry buyer at Piccadilly knows his stuff - I am told that by others who know this stuff better than I do.

Poetry launch

The launch of my first collection of poetry, 'For the Messengers' was a hugely well attended event this Saturday at the Balls Brothers pub in Bishopsgate. Congrats to all the other poets, AB Jackson, Wayne Holloway Smith, Ahren Warner and Matthew Caley, and the biggest congrats to Andy Ching, publisher at the wonderful Donut Press. The event also celebrated 10 years of Donuts and Tim Turnbull and Tim Wells came down to read! Hopefully have some pix up soon.

I like this one as it's so monochrome. I'm thinking about printmaking and so I'm trying to draw in a way that could be translated to a printing medium. Interesting to think about this.

Did some more sketches today in my lunch hour. Here's one from 2008, the year which my book 'For the Messengers' studies.

This is a very poignant image for me. Mexico, the lost children ... the bleeding hearts and bodies ... it's just not fair ... anger seems too petty a response ...

My first poetry collection, For the Messengers, will be published early next year, the launch is scheduled for Feb 2011. It's about the video stories I archive for Reuters. Today I started a series of drawings to interpret the stories visually as a parallel exercise. This is set in Indonesia, the volcano in the background is Mount Merapi.
